Sofirn SP33S Review
INTRODUCTION
Hello. In this review I will be sharing my experience with the sofirn sp33s. I will talk about performance, runtime, looks, handling and more.
LOOKS AND HANDLING
This light looks good. I got mine in blue, as is not so popular, but I think it looks good at least. It has some heat-fins around the activation button, and a stainless-steel (I think) bezel. It has okay grips on the battery tube, and a flat tail for tail-standing.
It feels very good in the hand, and suprisingly not big as it is a 26650 light. I does have som weight to it, but you get used to it. The weight helps the quality feel too.
LIGHT QUALITY
This light doesn’t do amazing in this segment, sadly. The beam and hotspot is very wide, as I do like (very good for walking lights). But that’s where the good ends. I has the hotspot, then a big green ring around it (I might of gotten unlucky with my batch). Then it has a quite dim corona, and a brighter ring on the outside. It has no real artifacts thought, as it uses an orange peel reflector. Outside you don’t really notice these downfalls, but inside you definitely do.
The light has an XHP70.2, and is in 6,500K and low CRI (I think sofirn claims 80 CRI, but I am unsure about that). It has about 5,000 lumens (test have comfirmed that mostly), and it is very bright indeed.
Performance
As mentioned, this light has 5,000 lumens. When turning it on, it lights up the entire forest. It throws about 300 meter, and therefor lights up a decent distance. For sustainability, after the drop of turbo, it sustains about 1,500 lumens for a litte over 2 hours, as is very impressive for a 5500 mah 26650. This allows you to go on long walks, while lighting your path.
Conclution
Do I recommend it? It you can get it for the right price, then yes. If you can get it for less than 40$, it’s probally worth it, but nothing more. There are multiple light that are similar, like the convoy M3C, that offers similar performance, but for a little more. So If you can get this on sale, I recommend it.
