Sofirn SP36 Problem

Hello all, Newbie here with a question on a new Sofirn SP36 that I just purchased. In the ramping mode, when it reaches the high end, the light just shuts down. The light goes out, the switch LED goes out and no switch pushes work. The only way to get it working again is to unscrew the tube then re-tighten. I’m using 3 new (and freshly charged) protected button top Panasonic NCR18650B’s 3400mAh. I’ve watched several videos on how to operated the ramping mode and believe I’m doing it correctly. Do you think the “protection” is shutting down the light? When I put one of these cells in my Sofirn SP31V2.0 it works fine. If you think it might be the batteries — any suggestions on which batteries to get. I don’t have other 18650’s on hand to test. Thanks, Don

Sounds like you have tripped the protection on those low-drain protected NCR18650Bs. Get some unprotected high-drain button tops like Samsung 30Q or Sony VTC6 and your SP36 should work without issues.

AMK, Thanks for the advice — I ordered the Samsung 30Q’s. Hopefully that will take care of the problem. DJ

The Samsung 30Q’s did the trick- the SP36 works like a champ now. Thanks again.

Make sure you get button tops

Yes i did install button-tops purchased from illumn, they work great and very fast delivery from CA to FL
