Not finding which driver is in it and i havent taken the driver out of the pill yet. As soon as i get my pills from fasttech this week i will take all the pics i can. All i know is that it has 3 modes hi lo and strobe and i am using it to drive and oslon osram black ir LED.
no way are you going to get 3a from a pair of 123’s… so there goes your lumen numbers (and also lumen numbers are invalid for IR leds)
I was gonna stick the original led that came with the t20 on the SOG flashlight. The mpcb says its a cree led. **Well looking at the led i dropped it in and of course its too big to fit inside the reflector like the original so i guess thats out of the question. The corners of the larger led die hit the opening of the reflector
If I run into this problem, I drill or file it larger by hand. Taking time its easy. When I say drill by hand. I actually hold the drill bit in my hand and turn it. Or use one of the micro files I have.
I have recently bought about 6 or 7 lights and they all have screw in ‘pills’ What other kind is there?
I can’t see just a press fit being a great idea, as I’d have thought you would need good solid contact to the body to transfer heat.
The pill screws into the flashlight body but there is a metal ring holding the driver in that seems to be press fit. i tried to take it apart last night but didnt wanna gouge the ring up too much.
An XP-L emitter on a 16mm PCB should fit your factory reflector without modding:

It should give you the same output or better than the t20 board you were considering. I hate permanently modding reflectors for nice lights...
sweet thanks alot. im gonna mess around with them here in a bit
Easy enough. and with 1 inch bar of aluminium stock it is not a big job.
I’ve down two in the last week, I have a mate with a lathe.
I’d suggest what you need to do is start asking around local hobby stores, like model boat and aircraft places, and fins someone with a small home lathe.
They may do the job for very little , or nothing in exchange for the free extra stock metal you begin along…maybe even show them what you can do with a modified flashlight , compared to an off the shelf one…mod them a lamp in exchange for getting them to turn down a new pill for you.
I made up this one…a drop in, yes I had forgotten abut this one when I made by first comment in this thread, about not seeing an un threaded one before
that new on there was about 15 minutes work.
Threading will take a bit longer.
Am sure you can find a hobby machinist somewhere near to you
i know a couple of people with lathes unfortunately the closest big city is about 3.5 hours away from me and my town only has about 5000 people no hobby stores either.
Well pop in and see the people with lathes/
Even if there are no hobby stores, they may well be people shoe have model aircraft ? boats? maybe a model club?
