Wow! A Solarforce light I might actually want to buy. I'm actually digging it.
Edit: It's huge! 140mm in single cell format. For comparison an Ultrafire H3b is 98mm and the same for a ZL-H600. The head on the L2E is 45mm deep and 22mm wide. Not digging it as much as I did but I am looking forward to a review once some of you get one. ;)

The host comes with a 2 X 18650 extension tube and the switch is in the bottom not the head. I think I'll wait a bit.

I think solarforce is a little proud of their products. Too much so.
Not really like for like though. The reflector on the SF is far bigger and will be for a different kind of use.
I like that it is a P60 angleheaded host and takes 18650 cells and that is all i like. Other wise it is over priced and bulky, aimed at the professional market engineers / mechanics and alike and there are far better options on the snap-on van.
A good solid miss for solarforce looks like an engineers light designed by an engineer for engineers with no regard to normal consumer useage, I am amazed it got past the bean counters that run the universe now.

I like the design of the L2E, but the price isn't really budget. Someone in German forum, where I'm also active ordered one 2 days ago. I hope, he will make a little review.
I ordered one a week ago, as well as the L2C and the LD18 extension tube.
They had a promotion where you got a free belt clip and then another one where you get a free pouch.

There is a nice review at EDC Forums. It seems to be quite top heavy, is not compatible with other Solarforce parts, even the tailcaps, and it has a weak magnet.
Bummer.
Just read the review and I think maybe you are being a little harsh on it.
I’m not convinced it is top heavy either, more likely bottom heavy. There is nothing to say the LED must be at the top. The Magnet is on the (for want of another word 
) “head” end. To suggest that the intention is to set that end down. Holding it that way up also makes the location of the switch more useful too.
I have to say, on first glance the lack of lego ability does seem odd. But having looked at the pictures I think there may be a more sensible reason.
Of course part of the reason might be marketing, as in they’d rather you buy the whole light, rather than just the head. But if you look you can see the threads are shorter on this, obviously to make it more compact for when you turn the drop-in 90 degrees. This means the head and body are different, so only leaves the switch, which due to the need to make it fit the batteries might have meant using the current L2 bits would have not worked, or just made the light bigger for no reason.
Personally the only disappointing thing so far is the price Even more so when you compare to how much an L2M, L2 or L2P are.
Too bad it lacks Lego ability. Won’t be buying one anytime soon. I wonder if the L2C has Lego ability? Anyone own one of those?

The L2C is fully compatible with the heads and switches of other L2 lights, I have head on the L2R, the tailcap on the LD18 body and I have the L2R head and some weirdo tailcap (SR7 or something??) on the L2C body. I haven’t tried it yet but there should be no reason my masterpiece pro 1 and M3 heads won’t fit on it either.
Double confirming that the L2E bits don’t fit on any other bodies. Is that like false advertising since it has the L2 name??
Oh well should make a good work light.
The only reason I spent so much was that they had a couple of promotions going at the time and I ended up getting 2 free pouches and a free belt clip.

Thanks for the update on the L2C Hairy_Steve. Love some of those one-of-a-kind Lego masterpieces!! Gonna have to pony-up and get that L2C. Now I can’t wait!!!
Woke up after a little nap.
The drop in I was using was the international outdoor p60 globe with moonlight mode.
The middle spring on that drop in it fairly short and probably wasn’t making contact inside the light.
I tried another drop in with a longer middle spring and it works fine.
Initial impressions
Fairly top heavy and solid
The magnet seems a little weak and is prone to sliding down metal objects when stuck on sideways.
nice finish better looking then the cheaper solarforce lights.
The clip doesn’t seem strong enough when clip on to a shirt to hold it in position unless vertical.

With attached extender standing erect. Fitted with random diffuser bought I think from manafont.
The lens is 30 MM - also any of the other bezels from the L2 series dont fit it they are smaller so no spiky stainless steel klingon bezel.

Don’t like the magnet? its removable. Unscrew cap and place light against metal object and the magnet sticks on that instead of the light.
With extender removed and diffuser fitted.
I haven’t used it with 2 batteries yet but after a little testing the light sticks to some objects better then others. My fridge?? it slides down. My oven and bare metal ? it sticks most of the time just fine when sideways. If the paint or coating if any is thick it doesn’t stick properly.
But…
Its replaceable so if you can jam a rare earth magnet in there maybe no problems.
It fits ok in the hand (this is without extender)
Hopefully these pictures have shed some light on the subject….
The L2E don't fit to any other L2 bodies - this isn't great. I think about a blue/black L2P / L2E combination, but if it doesn't fit, I'm out.
