Solarforce L2P 5 Ampere switch (clicky)

Hi guys,

i would like to know what switch would be ok for my L2P at around 5A current… I am thinking about building a high power dropin with new LD-1 5A driver, noctigon triple XP-G2 and pill with really good thermal path, that currently holds Nichia 219 triple star, driven at around 2.5 Amps.

The only problem is the switch: SF states that it whitstands currents up to 3A - is that an absolute maximum for this switch? Could there be a simple modification to lengthen it’s life? Or is the McClicky the only way to go? McClickies are quite expensive and really hard to acquire here in Europe. High shipping costs and import duties can cost you up to 30$ for a simple switch!

Any help would be highly appreciated!

The Solarforce switch should be fine. I’m running one at 7A.

SF switch is good I use it in most of my P60 lights and then some—The spring is the brick wall put a wire or braided wire inside the spring for the current to pass through—I have some doing 10amps with a triple

Whatever happened to Tofty and his custom 10A clicky switch?? Did those never really go into production beyond the testing samples, or what?

Yes they did go into production. I dont believe he has any left in stock but he may build more. I think it would depend on the interest shown. It may pay to send him a PM if your interested. I have and am.

So i guess that with the copper wire mod, i should be safe…

Thanks for the info, MRsDNF. I may do just that.

You shouldn’t have any problems at all without any mods. It will hadle 5A without any problems. Most 1.5A rated switches will handle 5A no problems. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
