Hi,
received a new Solarforce L2P flashlight (3 mode XM-L dropin) from solarforceflashlight-sales a few days ago, but it doesn't turn on with any of my batteries.
- Trustfire 18650 2400 mah
- Xtar 18650 3100 mah protected (body is extremely narrow, battery didn't fit properly)
I thought it was supposed to work with any type of 18650 batteries. Anyone with same problem?
btw, contacted sales department, no solution provided.
Thanks in advance,
jpc
Sounds like a bad light. Ask solarforce for a replacement. Not really much troubleshooting to be done - an L2P pretty much either works, or doesn't...
As for the XTAR, your observation that the body is extremely narrow is a bit off. The XTAR is extremely fat. Relative thing...

Check a couple of things. Battery charged correctly, take tailcap off and jump with a wire between the battery and body to see if the switch is bad. What drop-in did you get, is it 4.2V? Take the body out of the equation and attach test leads directly to battery. Make sure these batteries are working in another light. Start there.
The L2P is an excellent host with quality parts used throughout. A common problem though is that the positive spring does not always contact the positive nib of the battery. Doing the tailcap switch bypass test ought to tell you if your drop in is working. You will have to make sure that the positive spring comes into contact with the nib of the battery. If it works try checking the tailcap switch with a multitester. Then put the battery inside the light and shake your flashlight forward and backwards. If you feel the battery sliding back and forth then the battery poles are not making contact with the drop in positive spring and tailcap spring. I had this problem with my L2P. If that is the case, lengthen either or both of the 2 springs til you have good contact.
I hope this helps.
