SolarForce S1100 SBT-70 aspheric

Hi,

one year ago i modded the SolarForce S1100 to XM-L2@5,7A but switched on the light only once since then. So the light had to become more interesting

From the mod of the NiteCore TM36 i had a Luminus SBT-70 left over and combined that with a LD2 12A driver. The driver was connected to the original contact board. I glued a nut on the mosfet and glued that nut to the inside of the body using Arctic Silver. The rest of the gap between driver and body was filled with Fujik.

To get the LED into the focus i soldered two old copper MCPCB together and put these underneath the LED on Noctigon.

The LED was glued into the pill.

I changed the battery carrier to parallel. The spring bypass was done, too but is not on this picture.

The spring were bypassed

All parts of the light.

The aspherical lens is deep in the head. The lens is hold by a ring of plastic, here with some GITD foil. I removed that later.

A lovely LED

I measured 212 Klux@1m.

Here some beamshots compared to my Jax Z1 with dedomed XP-G2 (~200 Klux)

Distance to the weir ~160m, Nikon P100, f=3,2, 0m5 Sec., ISO800

Controlshot

And a little video edit.

Now this flashlight makes a lot of fun! I always wanted that round image

That is a beautiful beamshot!!!

Very nice indeed!

That really is a work of art and great photos too

That die image is amazing!

Wow! Very nice!

Really nice mod

Great pic too

Its another amazing Kenjii mod! Good job! I love the round hot spot of the SBT.

Do you have any idea how many amps the stock TM36 sends to the emitter?

Hi,

i don´t know exactly, on DX it is listed with 5000mA but i think it must be more than that. On the other hand Vinh told me that he pimps the driver even more for use with XP-G2 using another R030 resistor

Thanks Kenjii,

Ive searched a few times and couldnt find anyone who tested the actual power to the emitter in the TM36. I always thought it would have been around 8-9A. Its great that you found an interesting new home for it!
