Solarforce XP-G drop-in questionable soldering

I just got my first Solarforce P60 drop in, the ping label 1 mode XP-G. The module looked good but the solder that holds the spring/board into the head was already coming apart and the board was at an odd angle.

I ended up resoldering it, as I am fairly sure that solder is mostly for making sure the board/head don’t seperate….I think.

The solder provides the ground for the driver and helps with heat transfer away from the driver.

Thanks Allan! That makes sense, and I am glad that I fixed it up. I will note after adding more solder the light did seem to cool quicker.

Is there a schematic for these P60 drop ins? I would be interested in starting to make my own at some point. I just bought 3 different types to compare and hopefully start modding at some point.
