After looking at the photos on my desktop PC, I can see why you’d say that.
The protective clear coat that was applied (poorly) at the factory is worn off in places. It gives a chipped appearance and allows green/blue surface corrosion to form. The front of the bezel and the edges of the fins look the worst.
The light would certainly benefit from having the protective coating removed, and then a round of polishing. A forced patina could then be applied, or it could be left bare to allow a ‘natural’ patina to form.
I used these with my Dremel to even out the surfaces, then used a wool polishing bit to shine it up. Took about an hour or so. I’m pretty happy with the results.
