Often, things do not work out as they planned. It happens to me all the time. I'm sure it happens to others too. Due to certain events that I was not expecting or planning on, I am listing this Red Maglite. It is a 1D Modded light.
Please see this thread for the info on the light, as well as several photos and beam shots.
Specifications:
Red 2D Maglite, cut down to 1D using the Human Lathe method.
Cosmetically modified with crenulations, fluting and polished ring.
Stock Maglite switch, modified to be negative contact instead of positive contact.
Direct Drive 3AA NiMH or Alkalines in a (budget, AKA Chinese) 3AA holder. I actually want the resistance here, especially with fresh Alkalines.
Aluminum heatsink -"pinned in place" (not easily removable)
XML-T4 4500k emitter
CNQG Aluminum reflector with a light OP finish sprayed on.
Glass KD Lens

This is a hand made light, it has faults, it's not perfect. The emitter is not perfectly centered, but it is not off enough to affect the beam. The head can be unscrewed, but woe to the guy who does. With the flutes, comes trouble and it took about 5 minutes and a lot of work, to get the head on, since the "O" ring will "pop up" thru every flute as you try to turn the head. The same thing happens when you try to unscrew it, so it's best to leave it as is. The beam is adjusted for "best performance" as it is. The reflector is AA'd in place (not easily removable), in the head. The light has "Shiny" areas, not highly polished. Highly polished suggests a mirror finish. I am not capable of that. It is shiny and looks polished, but a buffer would be needed to really polish it, (or about 20 more hours of hand work, which I am not about to do).
I am Not trying to knock this light. It is Absolutely gorgeous!! I love red and I love the "chrome look". It's Awesome, but I do not want anyone to be surprised and have it not be what they expected either.
You could use a 26650 with this light if you want to make a sleeve for it and cut the spring down, to accomodate the difference in length. It will fit and work, with those modifications. EDIT: I will include a cut down spring and the sleeve for a 26650.
