I received this yesterday from the groupbuy. Beam profile is very good, (better than SRK/DRY in cleanliness and throw) as is the tint (makes my SRK look green), output, higher PWM frequency and the presence of a medium mode. Build quality is also very solid, with better heatsinking than the SRK too.
I do not however like the UI, the 3 second hold as a shortcut to turn-off is too long imo, as it’s quicker just to cycle the modes to off instead, which I don’t like doing. It is due to this that I find myself still reaching for my SRK and don’t see a reason to keep it. For others however it doesn’t seem to be an issue according to feedback in the thread.
I have cleaned the inside of the lens, which came a little dusty, and have tightened the retaining ring around the switch button. This tightening created a few scratches on the retaining ring itself, but as that isn’t anodized they don’t stand out.
I’d like to get back what I paid for it, and as the group buy price was a one off special offer anyway I think that’s fair. So the starting price is £22, plus an extra £3 to cover postage.
Now SOLD. Thanks Gords, hopefully you’ll have it by next week
Gordon Bennett!! I didn’t realise there was a Border between Nottingham and Wigan
You do realise, of course, that after surviving crap packaging half way around the world, it is bound to arrive in pieces when the Royal Mail gets it’s hands on a well packaged light.
Good price - I’m sure mine worked out at more than £22.
This remembers me of a top gear episode, where May and Hammond crossed the country in a Porsche panamera, against a letter sent by Royal Mail, and the latter won. (Was it a government promotion?)
If Royal Mail is too slow, just contact any panamera owner and ask him for a favor
