I'm buying my first tube of solder paste. Do I need extra needles, or will one suffice?
Does the paste inside the needle have a shorter shelf life than the paste inside the tube?

I mixed my own paste/flux solution and loaded my own syringe, so it’s not exactly the same circumstances, but I haven’t had any problem with the needle itself. I did have to mix a bit more flux into the tube recently though.
Sounds great :-) - So you mix flux with ... what? Is it possible to buy solder as powder?
So you just use one needle?
I bought a syringe and needle from a farm supply store, and the cheap “mechanics” solder paste from fasttech. Then I mixed some kester liquid flux into the solder paste so it is thin enough to go through the needle.
Ok -thanks!
Just so you know, that’s what I did, but if I was doing it again I would just buy a pre-packed syringe. It was too much hassle for the small cost savings.
Roger that :-)
Nice to know that it's possible to make your own. But I'll buy a pre-packed syringe
