SOLVED Does this sound like the right driver behavior?

SOLVED with the help of RMM. I built the driver with a zener diode in place of the schottky.

I just built a mtn 20dd fet driver from mtn electronics. The MCU came pre programmed with guppydrive Rev. 2. All mode groups work and I’m able to select them no problem. The issue is that when I turn the light off, next time I turn it on it starts in the next mode from where l turned it off, very annoying! I thought (maybe I’m wrong) that the light should resume with the last mode used? I have a different light programmed with the BLF A6 firmware and it resumes where I left it off. What could be the trouble here? Capacitors? Bad firmware?

Ok I just discovered something that might be useful. When the light is off for 2 minutes or longer it will resume with the last mode used. Anything shorter than 2 minutes and I comes on in next mode. Sound like a cap problem?
