I have both. I like colder temps so I prefer the Sofirn. But the original is a wider wall of light.
Both are epic. I am pleased I can wield both…one in each hand.10k+ ….hilarious!

Got both, prefer the BLF Q8 for tint. After playing with FW3A for a couple of weeks, wish there was an ANDURIL version like with SP36.
Anyone in Melbourne equipped to flash firmware (remuneration paypal or slab)?
BLF Q8 tint is a little greenisch, at least on mine. Can’t really understand why people are so excited about it.
About the tint or the flashlight itself?

is it? havent noticed much really… i thought the tint was chosen specific for a reason by the most blf pros that designed the light.

I’d really recommend getting a tripod screw and adding a wrist holder to it, it’s a lot of torch to carry. (It doesnt have a lanyard hole)
Personally, I like the Sofirn Q8 with the xpl-hi better. The beam throws better, yet still has a nice flood. Whatever bin emitters they used, they nailed it.
From what I’ve seen and how I would use it, I agree. Q8 with XPL-HI for “throwy” powerhouse, SP36 351D for the flood. I think the Q8 is too cool for me though. I may give in to the temptation one day, buy it and reflow some NW XPL-HIs or SST-20s.
To be honest I got it by accident - I meant to get the BLF Q8. Now I’ve got it I’m really pleased with it. I actually like the cooler tint. The build quality is very impressive. It’s as bright as my Trustfire J20. I also think it is so cool that a group of experts on BLF created it.
You musta lost the tint-lottery. Mine’s great.
Also consider the Airpro DC7. Sofirnlike beam (cooler/throwier), lobotomised-narsim UI (ramps nicely, shortcuts to moon/turbo), but has usb-c charging built in!
Honestly, I think it is a bit green too. Still a terrific light.
