Source for 18-22AWG stranded and/or solid teflon insulated wire?

I’d like to have some (a few yards) “teflon” (PTFE, FEP) insulated wire on hand for spots where silicone insulation is either too thick, or at risk from abrasion.

When I look on ebay, or Amazon though, the options are overwhelming and/or the minimum cost/quantity is too much.

I checked Mountain Electronics; they only carry 26 and 30awg.

It looks like 24AWG should be pretty easy to get from scraps of plenum or riser grade UTP cables (ie ethernet).

I would really appreciate help finding a source for larger conductors, anything that would help: a product listing, shop, search term, etc.

eas, do you usually buy in AliExpress stores? I’ve seen some stores that seem to have that type of wire and reviews on some of them are good!
Maybe you can take a look there :wink:

I do shop AliExpress. For some reason though I didn’t think to look there, Thanks! I’ll give it a shot, though other suggestions are still welcome.

Found the store where I bought a piece of 20AWG, but you’ll find others :wink:
BTW, it is 5m total (2.5m for red and 2.5m for black)

That is silicon wire though.

Click on the multi purpose wire, then chemical resistant wire.

Raychem is the stuff, ETFE fluoropolymer. Radiation cross-linked.

Brand name TEFZEL.

Edit: radiation being either electron-beam (Beta ray) or a Gamma source.

Used in aerospace. Silver plated copper strands too on the best stuff (tin plated on the ordinary).

Minimal thickness of insulation, tough as old boots, resistant to every chemical, flexible, lightweight.

Work in aerospace and you can probably cadge plenty from the wiremen.

Basically Raychem is the go-to brand. Spec. 55 or 44.

Tom Tom, thanks for the added detail. Unfortunately, I don’t think I have anyone who can pick up scraps for me from Boeing :slight_smile:

Fortunately, it looks like I can get small quantities (by the foot) from Mouser at decent prices.

I see flexlite on their site. Judging by what I can find (oh well, I can’t even find a catalogue with basic data on their site) it seems even better for us because of higher flexibility.
