Source For Bright 5mm LEDS?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me a source for a few really bright 5mm LED’s? I have some older Photon keychain lights that I want to upgrade and I’m sure there are some nice and bright 5mm Led’s out there now.

I checked Ebay but you have to buy a ton of them at once and I only need about a half dozen or so. I would also prefer a dealer in the U.S. or Canada if possible. Thanks much!

I buy those types of LED’s from lighthouseleds.com but I’m not sure how they stack up performance wise. You can check them out; US based, great service.

Thanks for that pilotdog. I went for a dozen for $4.65 which included shipping which is pretty decent and as you said, they’re in the U.S. and I won’t have to wait a month or more from a Chinese dealer. After I get them, I’ll report back.

Try superbrightleds.com I’ve heard good things about them but never used them. Here’s a link to some 5mm LEDs https://www.superbrightleds.com/cat/component-leds/filter/LED_Package,5mm,18,167:

Again, never used them but I know their site has tons of stuff including automotive LEDs and other kits.

Just an update. I received the LED’s from lighthouseleds a few days ago. They shipped them fast. I installed some of them in my Photon keychain lights. Kind of disappointing. They’re slightly brighter than the old 5mm’s that came in the Photons but not by much. The CW beam is slightly whiter than the old Photons with less blue so that’s good.

The search continues!

Thanks for that link SikSemper. I remember buying some stuff from them years ago but their 5mm LED’s look to me to be the same as the ones from lighthouseleds.

Yeah sorry they they weren’t what you were looking for. You could look into some Nichia LED’s, like the Manker Boney uses. Sorry, I don’t know where to buy them, maybe digikey.com?

Here’s the Nichia 5mm NSPW500GS-K1 from LedRise

A reviewer said he tested a 120ma and it held well. I’ve never used that website so I cant tell you how good they are. From doing a little research is looks like they are pretty efficient and I didn’t see any better than that but I can of course be wrong. look into the specs on the page I linked and if you end up getting some let me know how they turn out
