I think they are just out. They have an advert flash up on HKequipment, that’s where i saw them, and then found a thread on cpf that’s only a few days old.
It'd compare better to the Xtar H1 if it had a lower low. It's lighter, but even a gram weenie like me isn't likely to choose the SG5 over the H1.
Wait a minute. Someone on the other forum said it's rated to do 260 lumens with an AA. The H1 only does 120 lumens with an AA. The H1 does 330 lumens with a 14500. What does the SG5 do with a 14500?
I believe the runtime and lumen specs refer to 14500 and not nihm.
I also asked Stanley from HKE regarding the interchangeable reflector and he said that they’re not the same as the old SD ones, he says the new SG reflectors will soon be in stock.
It doesn’t accept flat top cells like unprotected Sanyo 14500’s, or even the Nitecore 14500’s that have a slight button top.
The Sanyo’s work with a magnet spacer, but the Nitecore’s are too long with a spacer and the tail wont screw on properly.
The light seems to be perfect for AA or Eneloops though.
I measure current draw at the tail.
On a new Duracell AA it pulled about 2.3Amps on Turbo.
With the Sanyo 14500 or Efest IMR it pulled 0.73Amps.
Mode spacing seems good, and the light feels very solid, feeling more substantial and weightier than the Zebralight SC52.
I might put this one up for sale if anybody is interested as none of my 14500’s work without spacers.
