Special headlamp driver for Артем Квантов

In the Convoy AliExpress store there’s a listing titled special headlamp driver,pls dont order it if you dont know it

The description says:

Of course as soon as I’m told I can’t have something I want it, so I Googled “Артем Квантов” and found his YouTube video demonstrating the driver installed in a Boruit RJ57 headlamp

I don’t understand Russian, but I gleaned enough from the auto-translated subtitles to think that it’s quite a nice driver - direct access to three different modes from off, adjustable modes, high-frequency PWM below 350mA, and constant current above that.

I have no real use for it, but for US $7.20 for the driver and around US $11 for the host (the RJ57 seems to be discontinued, but the RJ-2157 looks similar) it might be a fun project.

I did think twice about drawing attention something that probably isn’t intended for the general public, but in Артем’s video he said there were 45 of 50 drivers still available - that was in November 2018 and the Convoy store show 22 available now so I think Артем and his friends have probably purchased all the drivers they want.

So, has anybody here tried the forbidden headlamp driver?

He very liked those strange cheap headlamps when he come to fonarevka. Now we convince him to use better headlamps, I think:)

There was a section in the video where he showed a YLP Panda. The translation didn’t work very well, but I imagine he was saying something along the lines of “Honestly, you’d probably better off just buying one of these and be done with it.” :slight_smile:
