Speras T217 V3 review

Hello everyone. Here’s my review on Speras T217 V3.

The SPERAS T217 V3 is a high-performance tactical flashlight designed for long-range illumination, often referred to as a “thrower.” It is built for search and rescue, hunting, and law enforcement applications where piercing through the darkness at a distance is the priority.

Below is a breakdown of the features, pros, and cons based on the latest standards for this model.

Main Features

Extreme Beam Distance:
Typically utilizes a high-intensity LED (like the Luminus SFT42R or similar) to achieve a beam distance of up to 1500+ meters.

High Output:
Capable of producing 3000 lumens on Turbo mode.

Dual Switch System:
Features a tactical tail switch for momentary or constant-on and a side switch for mode cycling and accessing special functions.

Power Source:
Driven by a high-capacity 2*21700 Li-ion battery (10000mAh), providing a balance between high discharge rates and long runtimes.

Integrated Charging: Usually equipped with a USB-C port protected by a rubber cover or integrated into the threads for better waterproofing.

Built Quality: Constructed from aerospace-grade aluminum alloy with Type III hard-anodized finish and an IP68 rating (submersible up to 2 meters).

Pros & Cons

Pros
Exceptional Throw: One of the best in its class for reaching extreme distances without a massive “head” size.

Tactical Interface: The tail switch allows for “instant-on” which is critical for self-defense or professional use.

USB-C Charging: Fast, convenient charging without needing a separate battery charger.

Regulated Driver: Provides consistent brightness levels as the battery drains, rather than dimming prematurely.

Cons
Narrow Spill: Because it is a “thrower,” it has very little peripheral light, making it poor for close-up tasks or walking trails.

Heat Management: Like most high-lumen lights, it will step down brightness quickly on Turbo to prevent overheating.

Size: While compact for a thrower, the 21700 battery and large reflector make it too bulky for comfortable pocket carry (EDC).

Interface Learning: Managing two switches can take a moment to master for casual users.

Quick Verdict

The SPERAS T217 V3 is a specialist tool. If you need to see something a kilometer away, it’s a powerhouse. However, if you’re looking for a general-purpose flashlight to use around the house or while camping, the beam might be too “tight” (focused) for your liking.
