Sportac p60 two mode

I see Sportac now offers a 2 mode p60 drop in.
100% and 20%
Voltage input 2.7V - 6V

Looking at the XP-G2 triple.
What do you all think?
Worth the $37.00?

No I can’t build my own drop-ins.

Thanks
Randy

That’s good news, looking forward the 219 triple.
2 modes is good!

I don’t expect that it will be driven very hard, but that is a good price for a ready made triple drop-in.

Sportac’s are really nice, very good for the money! Like a Malkoff ! They perform great in a Surefire 9P. I have a triple 219, a triple xml2 and a single xml2 in my 9p’s. But they are hungry little critter’s in 6volt lights, I think you can run the older ones up to 12volts? So 2 mode would be way better!

Where can you buy these from?

Illumn.com carries them. The XP-G2 are on backorder but the Nichia show to be in stock.

are they copper?

Brass

illuminationGear

Going Gear has them too.

With 10% discount as well!

I have 2 sportac single mode drop ins and they have fitment issues with my solarforce hosts, the SF version is too short and P60 version is too long. Quality wise they are great but they’re not as bright as my triple convoy S2 driven at 3A. If you already have the host then this is a great drop-in, but if you intend to buy a host for it, I would say no, you can build your own triple for less, and brighter!

Where can you buy bare drop-ins for triples and quads cheap enough to build your own cheaper?

I was thinking of getting one of these and simply swapping the driver as based on prices I’d looked at, doing this would be cheaper than a bare drop in and buying the other bits separately.

I used one of these to build a triple drop in, it works good but ended up costing a bit more than the Sportac.

If I build another I will use a Sportac and modify the driver and emitters, going with direct drive and reflowing XPL’s onto the mcpcb.

Sorry what I meant was “If you are building a light based on this drop in then it’s not worth it, you can build a complete triple XP-G flashlight for less and brighter/more versatile”.

Because in my case I first got the drop in then ordered a solarforce host for it, ended up with a single mode light that’s not very bright, or compact, or convenient so I never use it! Then I built a triple XP-G convoy S2, is my first choice when I have to grab one from the shelf.
