I finally found a use for the strobe function. I really impressed my grand kids with my SRK inside the pumpkin last night. The trick or treaters were quite impressed as well. I just put a magenta gel over it. Really put a candle to shame……
Hmm . . . we need to see video footage of this.

I want to see as well! Halloween III (1982) comes to mind…
O.K. well, It’s still out there. I’ll fire it back up tonight. Funny, a teenager took the top off and looked in last night. for a second I thought he was gonna _steal _the SRK!
I had my S7 (J18 clone), SRK, Trustfire Z5 zoomie, and a couple of other single-emitter XM-L lights, all on strobe, all tailstanding pointing at the ceiling last night. Very disorienting. Weird as they move in and out of sync with each other; sometimes the room is lit, sometimes it's flickering very bad. House looks very cool from outside with the light coming from the Windows...
Suddenly, rave.
That's the one without Michael Myers. I haven't seen the whole film, but seriously... what were they thinking!? :p
I know!! The insects coming out of those hats freaked me out when I was little!

Last year I put E01s in all the pumpkins so I wouldn’t be upset if they got stolen. This year I forgot and the kids just put candles in them. A sea of flashlights, and we used candles LOL.
Thanks for having shared this idea . Which proves that the “disco modes” that so many people dislike can be useful.
Next year, I’ll do that. But maybe, as some of my flashlights are overheating, I’ll only get some pumpkin soup .
I put older lights w strobe and SOS in the three front house windows, plus 2 outside that I stash in a big thorny bush, lights up the windows and nearby areas and the two in the bush really light up the whole yard and trees…nice spooky lightning effect!
Couple years ago I started w the bike strobe/blinkies which are red mostly and just amped it up from there…still use those as they have a nice pattern effect that none of the xmls do and adds a 1/2-1w red glare to the whole proceedings…
At least one neighbor is NOT happy and I hope he is the one who gets the shakes from the disorienting lights…
Very short videos off my bike cam. Sipik 98 and HD 210 on the burning bush. Looked really cool from 50 meters away. -Matt
that is a cool idea. but what lights can be left on strobe mode for 3 hours straight? ill be scared that it would damage my lights. which ones did you guys use. or which would be ok?
I did mine w older UF 501, 502, though at one point I had the BS Terminator flashing at the tree canopy, that was wild, but too much and I didn’t dare leave that light outside if I wasn’t baby sitting it!
That flashes so quick and powerfully, I can see where people get seizures from strobe light effects.
Batteries lasted 3 hrs, lights were not warm at all.
Isn’t strobe just really slow PWM? I wouldn’t expect it to do any damage
