My second topic regarding knives and quite simple question, is the 440C(?) blade in Navy knives really much better than the 8cr13mov used in SRM/Enlan/Bee knives?
Will Navy hold edge and sharpness better?
If it will, is it mostly because of 440C or also because of thicker blades?
I need couple bigger pocket knives for outdoor use and I would like them to be as durable as possible, should Navy K6 big blade series be preferred over EL0x from Enlan and SRM 939 from Sanrenmu?
I will also want couple of smaller EDC knives to do smaller tasks like open letters/packages couple of times a month or cut some paper and not likely to use them to cut wood or do any other hardcore tasks with them, tho you never know what kind of task you might throw at your knife in any given situation.
Will 8cr13mov suffice for small EDC knives or should I better look for pricey 440C Navy knives from their smaller K5(?) series?
Should I invest in more expensive Navy knife/knives as my heavy duty folder/folders and buy SRM/Enlan/Bee that are quite cheaper for less demanding tasks?
Or perhaps I better get myself Navy in both categories, heavy duty outdoor Navy and some smaller 440C EDC folder?
May well be good steel but why lie? I think it's 8Cr13MoV at best. Nearly as bad as using a western brand name and counterfeiting IMO. Overall quality is less than SRM/Enlan too.
Wow, thats something new for me, I thought Navy knives are bigger, better and sturdier?! And generally Ive read nothing but good about them online, BLF including!
Pehaps fact they cost premium has more to do with their size and the fact that SRM 9xx series are no longer available so they jacked up the prices?
More input welcome from you guys :)!
Most likely I wont feel the difference other than the size of each knife and weight, what Im interested about is how well they will hold the edge during long term use and if one will be better over another regarding blade wear.
