SST-20 and XP-L “Hello” 5D tint pics

So check this out. We all know despite its 70CRI the XP-L HI (can we just call it “Hello” from now on lol) 5D has a pretty sweet somewhat rosy tint and there’s been talk of the SST-20 4000K having a slightly green tint. But in this photo I just took, (my first upload to blf) the 5D looks super green, even when I change white balance. 4000K SST-20 looks pure white. The other two are 3000K SST-20 and a mix 3000K/4000K SST-20. Can anyone give a suggestion to how to set the camera setting with such varying CCT beams? Also just thought it would be cool for anyone wanting to see how the SST-20’s looked. They’re fairly accurately represented but man the XP-L Hello looks poopy. Looks nice IRL.

I wonder if yours is really a 5D tint because I have a bunch of 5D tint lights and several SST20 4000k lights. The 5D is much rosier than the SST20.

It’s also dependent on drive current. A 4000k SST20 95+ is very green at low currents but perfectly fine with high currents where all the green is gone.

It is, it came from Hank. It is rosier than the sst-20 and drive current is just above the 350mA blink on a D4. I mostly just thought it was weird how rosy=green on my iPhone camera and wondered how to set WB to get an accurate rep. Of different CCT’s.

Trust your eyes, not the camera. I’ve repeatedly found that you can’t really capture the tint differences reliably even on a DSLR and playing with the RAW files. Sometimes the rosy and green tinted light just flip and there’s no amount of camera fiddling that gets the image to reflect reality.

especially since you don’t know on which screen it will be watched and which bias that screen might have.
