I need suggestions for a 6v XHP 70 in a Convoy M1. Two 18350’s more than likely. Also do I need two flat top or can I use only button top.
I use two AWT IMR 16340s in my surefire 6P+XHP70, which draws 5A.
I use a small magnet in a 2x 18650 setup, I only have flat top cells. works ok.
I have made it a habit to put a “tit” of solder on the tops of my lap top pulls. works like charm.
I use button top AW IMR 18350s in my MT-G2 Convoy M1.
What discharge amperage rating do those AWs have? And how did you get the reflector to not short across the leads on the noctigon? My reflector sits on top of the xhp70 square and does not properly seat around the top rim. There is about a 1/8” gap most likely due to the sinkpad. Did you modify the reflector depth?
To tell you the truth I built the light quite a while ago and don’t remember exactly what I had to do, I don’t remember any major issues getting it all together. I believe all I did was file a small amount to clear the wires and covered with Kapton tape for good measure. The die fills the reflector opening perfectly.
I first built it as a direct drive light but later switched to a Zener mod Q-Lite x16. The AWs have no problem providing 6A…for a very short time. Having modes actually makes it a somewhat usable.
I had a problem with a magnet, guess it was too big, in front of a flat top cell. It shorted out and ruined the switch.
