I recently purchased a relatively inexpensive XML-T6 headlamp from ebay very similar to the SF-536. The light works good but only has 3 modes (m-h-blinky) and as like alot of lights, could use a mod.

I swapped the T6 out for a high cri XP-G2, installed a STAR Momentary driver from MTN electronics but am not sure how to wire the switch correctly. The electronic switch is inline with the led and has a “key” wire going back to the stock headlamp driver which is used to turn on/off and change modes with the stock driver.
I soldered the “key” wire to star 4 + GRND and when I press the button the light turns on high (direct drive?), when I release the button the light turns off. According to the driver spec (and from alot of the threads I’ve seen) there are supposed to be 2 wires coming from the electric switch to complete the circuit but this switch only has 1 wire labeled “key”. Is there a way to wire this driver with an inline e-switch that is compatible with this driver?
Also, if I solder the key wire to only star 4 and bridge the star to ground (momentarily) with the switch pressed the light turns on and I can change modes. But when I cycle to the off setting I can’t get the light to come back on.
