Stay away from Fireflies manufacture both E07&E01 Broke from 1 meter drop

I just want to encourage people to stay away from Fireflies at least for now until the quality has become better.
I have never had any experience before with such fragile flashlights. E07 and E01 share the same weakness in the design, the upper thread part in the battery tube is too thin and it will snap if you drop the flashlight especially to a hard surface like asphalt.

This have happen to me both on my E07 and my E01 flashlight. How fragile it is is not really acceptable.

More over… FF have tried to resolve the problem… he asked me want I wanted as compensation. He then gave me a tracking number that can not be found when I track it on 17track.
now more then 1 month later it has still updated status. But most importantly Fireflies now ignore my mails totally… so yeah I feel kind of ripped off…cause the products have 1 year warranty…

never happened to my olights and fenixes

happy camper here

Don’t worry it will come. He ignored me for 3 or 4 months when it was Enogear but the replacement came along with extras. There is CNY + Virus issue so communication might be even slower.

Never had an E07 fail by dropping but I never dropped any from a considerable height. Olights and Fenix are designed for ruggedness for professional use and are totally different class of lights from Fireflies. Fireflies make hotrods for flashaholics so it is not designed with the same reliability criteria, but I love all my Fireflies especially the E07. Been playing with my multiple E07 for over a year and still smile every time I blast them on turbo.

dropped MF01 on concrete no problem. Also dropped the MF01S from 80cm on hard floor, minor marks and that’s about it. I’ll be careful with my E07 but I’m probably sell it anyway (caught the CRI bug).

Just a update.

Fireflies did send me two replacement flashlight I got the PL47 instead of the E01 (did not like 5k)
and a new E07. it took long time for it to arrive but it was corona related.

E07 I know i said to have some enforcement made in the design at the thread part in the tube…
not sure… how much better it is now… if any… next Gen of E07 will probably be just better…as long as their is a steady improvement this manufacture is something I recommend in future.
They are pushing the limits.

anyway I am very satisfied with how FF did deal with the problem…besides that I was forced to be without a proper flashlight at work for 5 months.

PL47G2 I really like… it works perfect for me…at work…
but it runs very hot…

I was thinking about buying an E07, because I am focusing on single cell budget hot rods. Thanks for letting us know about the issue that you came across, but I’m not crazy about general negative advisement, so I will probably just go ahead and order one.

Eh, I haven’t had any issues with many drops on my PL47 and E07.

Not saying lights are perfect, but you may just have gotten really unlucky.

O.Track.

I have several smaller Twisties. ON/OFF.
Several I’ve dropped several times on the tiles or concrete. Not a problem.
UNLESS you drop on the front Twisty end.

They need a front spring to be mounted solid to frame of torch NOT board.
Letting the frame. NOT the board take the impact.
They don’t like it much.

My Astrolux. AO1’s. Several have been dropped on nose.
ALL but one have started working again,
after a period of very soft activation.
One is dead.

I do agree that FF e07 looks and feels fragile… compared to emisar which has alot thicker walls, or even astrolux lights similar …… ive heard they have mixed quality… i guess they havent improved in this area still…

Ekstasis, do you have pictures of the broken E07 ? Because it will help Fireflies taking action if the problem is clearly visible here on BLF.

I expected such a thing to happen to people because under the o-ring of the battery tube the wall thickness I measured just 0.3mm. I mentioned it before on BLF last year but had not heard anyone finding that a problem it seemed.

I did send pictures to them by email…they seem to be aware of the problem atleast now…

yes, quality is not the best… for instance extreme budget lights like Sofirn has still better quality… I think it is really up to the people at Fireflies to set the threshold of quality if they are not satisfied with the quality then do not produce at that factory…
But Fireflies strength is not quality but pushing the limits…

But I think…drivers could be better… compared to brands like Nitecore or Acebeam it is still a big difference here…

Nitecore and Acebeam they do not care much about 4000K or CRI they lose a lot of customers on this for sure…

it is kind of possible that my did land on the head…anyway I was surprised both times they snapped…
but yeah it makes sense to put a spring in there…

Still I like to see them too :innocent:

Just an long term update… Fireflies send me a replacement of E07. It have taken a lot of falls and accidents without problem one fall was from about 3 meters, so yes this unit I got definitely pass the test…

Was gonna say, FF is very hit and miss. I’ve dropped most mine (but the rot66 gets babied - with its weight i fear it wouldn’t survive lol)

Maybe their reflow process is not great? I have only heard nightmares of chinese solder, and too low temperature from inaccurate temperature control would cause cold joints. A cold joint breaks very easily, even thermal expansion cycles could do it.

I do not not know I might be lucky… but… if drop on the head down…maybe not soo lucky… anyway… for a 55 dollar flashlight it pass my test… the replacement was a later revision with enforced parts…
