street light game?

Ok, I’m prepared to admit that I’m a child cunningly disguised as an adult, so what’s the crack with switching street lights off? Obviously you need to flood out the light sensor, but what sort of time and output are we talking here? Please also bare in mind I’m in the UK, so our light settings (the street lights, not the torches) maybe different so what output am I looking for, I gave the lights outside our house a couple of minutes with a c8 q5 (no tail cap readings yet) and I have a 2.8a xm-l waiting at the post office, should this do it?

The c8 did seem to suprise a dog walker on the park at the end of our road, 100 yards max i’d say, so I’m still impressed with the little bugger, just need to lose the stupid blinkys that seem to show up every other button push……

Yeah, it’s kinda fun being able to turn them off. Right now I think only my HD2010 has a concentrated enough beam to overload the light sensor into thinking its daylight. Only takes a couple seconds.

Hmmmmm, can’t wait to pick up my t1 thrower from the post office…… :cowboy_hat_face:

I’m drawing a blank… T1 thrower?

Doesn’t do it. Its a great light, no doubt, but I’m still bummed. I too am a manchild, and really want to be able to turn the streetlights off.

Here you just kick them and they turn off.

Usually the light sensor would be on the top so unless you are above the street light it would be pretty difficult.

I can turn off the lights around my area, with my XML throwers, and TR-J12. But the lamps are small body and the sensor stands up tall out of the top, and I can shine light directly at it if I stand back a little and create a straight line of site between the sensor and my light. I haven’t tried it with my smaller XRE lights (~225Lumens)

Same here. You have to stand a fair distance away…just enough that you can get direct line-of-sight with the sensor on top of the lamp housing.

Sorry, trustfire tr1? I know its got an xm-l driven at 2.8a single mode.

My bedroom window is level with three sensors……

LOL, works in UK too, I haven’t done that in years!

I saw a guy on youtube with a TK70 playing this game and always wanted to try it out with mine but I’m scared of the cops… :~

What would the charge be? Streetlight harassment? Daylight impersonation?

I was rather thinking of “Your flashlight is bigger then mine, I might have to confiscate it, sir.”.

Actually I was writing this as joke but as I think my uncle told me last time sh like that really happens. Cop wanted to take away his light because it was’t legal (bullsh, it was a TJ12 or something), was serious about it till my uncle asked him which station is his so he can pick it up from his supervisor. Angry cop said something like “Here’s your light” and drove off. WTH is going on in LA?!…

Anyway… TK70 pipedreams lol

I here a lot of LPF members using lasers to turn off street lights

My StanleyHID could do it, but if anyone was down range it’d ruin there day

I’ve heard of police here confiscating anything that you migh be up to shananagans with, but rather than fill out the paperwork they’ll throw it away (maybe keep it if it’s useful or Awesome)

My DBS-T Aspheric has no problem shutting off streetlights. I can even get them at a good distance too.

I’m afraid it’s not only LA and USA it’s more or less global phenomenon. Whole world is going bezerk.

For example, judge from our regional court released a man that murdered his wife (in degree one circumstances) to defend himself from freedom without bail or even document seizure !!! Whole town is crazy about this. Meanwhile cops are preoccupied with finding tall bushes for speed cameras and harassing ordinary citizens (mainly pensioners as they are easy pray) for driving a bicycle at snail speed in pedestrian zone or outside marked lanes. fucked
