Success! First time stacking chips 1.4 - 1.75 amps

Just thought i’d share my first experience stacking a 7135 chip

I Had never done it before but wanted to try since my soldering skills have improved thanks to this forum.

I just got a 1.4 amp board and a xpg2 4c tint and wanted to make a new p60 drop in but was kinda tired of just powering them at the standard amperage
of 1.4 or 1.5.

With some patients, and a clean tip and some flux I managed to pull off this install. Didn’t bother trying to fill the gap on the ground side with any wire i was actually able to bridge the solder pretty easy.

Thanks to all who gave me advice on and pretty much taught me how to solder

Tested and pulling 1.75 amps to my new xpg2 8)
Here’s a few picks of the extra chip installed

Nice job. I did it with my 9x 7135 driver too. You could solder the middle pin for an extra thermal path. The large one on the top and the middle pin have the same connection.

Way to go!

Nice! I did one a few weeks ago too and it’s not really all that easy!

I tried once and failed. if Rufusbduck likes it you have done well. Well done.

Congrats! I'll be doing my first one very soon. I'm a bit worried when I hear how vulnerable these AMC's are to being overheated and killed.

speed is your friend. That and bending down those legs so you have less of a gap to bridge. It’s really not too hard once you figure that out

Thanks but I’m not the guru on this one just being encouraging.

Beautiful soldering work! I did the same this past weekend but by turning a Nanjg AK-101 1050mA board into a 2.8A by adding the 4th 7135 then stacking a second chip onto all four on the PCB then converting it from 5-mode to 3-mode. I haven't fired it up yet but will be doing so very soon. All looks good but I have to admit it's not as clean and pretty as yours.

nice work been wanting to try is myself but it looks to dang small for my ageing eyes

Im sure that I will try it sometime though as I have been wanting to upgrade a light that has a 20mm driver and they factory in the 1a or so range so gotta put out some more volume!

Best thing I ever added to my soldering set up was a magnyifying lamp. Just wish I’d bought one with a nicer swing arm.
