we already have “new” and “updated”. How about adding “off topic” and “postal” for threads that have degenerated to humor or worse? This would let everyone know that usefull information is no longer wanted and a party is going on or that usefull information was never wanted and there is a brewhaha going on.
The problem with that is that the forum software does not automatically detect when a thread is getting derailed. It also would encourage going off-topic since as soon as a thead was marked as off-topic more people would come in and drag it further down.
A lot of threads quickly get derailed but just as quickly can come back to the original topic.
Sorry, this thread was not really meant to be taken seriously. It was just an off the top of the head blurt in reaction to other thread derailments.
