Hi guys, I had a Skilhunt M300 and am not quite happy about the tint of the stock XPH35 HD. I am thinking to change it to the new lovely GT-FC40. Is it doable? They are both 12V leds. But it seems weird that in the description of the GT-FC40 driver from Convoy, it is said the driver is specifically for GT-FC40 not xph35. The two LED need to be driven differently?
I think the reason it’s labelled as FC40 driver and not XHP35 is because the 2.5A drive current is a bit high for an XHP35. Aside from space constraints it should work.
It will not work. First, the GT FC40 is a 7070 LED, while a XHP35 is a 3535 LED, so completely different sizes, simple LED swaping is impossible. Second, the M300 has a special MCPCB with a chip on it, connected to the driver with two wires. So, MCPCB replacement is rather impossible too.
Easiest solution is to replace the stock XHP35 with a XHP35 with better tint.
It’s a thermistor, it could be air wired and glued to the new MCPCB. As long as the FC40 fits into the reflector I don’t see this as an impossible mod.
That makes sense.
Changing the MCPCB is a must for FC40. The thermal resistor on the MCPCB can be a problem.
It seems possible. I will give it a try. Thanks!
