I have a green Convoy T6 which currently has a 3000K SFT40 in it, this was sent by mistake and I’m not really gone on the colour. Simon has made things right but I still have an unloved green T6.
The thought occurred that I could order one in a different colour with a green Osram and then swap the innards so that the green host had a green emitter and the SFT40 was in one that I liked. This is a trivial matter with an S2, but having unscrewed the bits that I can unscrew and tentatively poked the driver with a spudger it doesn’t seem to want to come out.
My question is this - can the internals of a T6 be swapped out easily or is it more involved and requires soldering?
Yes. You need to desolder the wires from MCPCB to extract either one of MCPCB or driver.
And actually, in this situation no driver replacement extraction is needed. After disconnecting the wires from mcpcb you can just swap the mcpcb with LED (if the new led can be driven with the same current).
EDIT: Looks like Osram’s LEDs can handle 5A at most (not sure, never used Osrams).
Thank you for your help. This is currently beyond me, not least because I don’t own a soldering iron.
The datasheet for the CSLMN1.F1 states max forward current of 3A, so even if I could solder it sounds like hooking one up to the 5A driver for the SFT40 would not end well.
