Switch problem?

I received a light that was DOA, and i’m trying to figure out why so i don’t fix the wrong part and have it happen again when i need to rely on it (giving it away so it would happen to the recipient).
I took it apart, and tested the switch 1ohm resistance, body 1 ohm again, the led with the diode test on my multimeter, it lit up to moonlight level, then i put it back together and the light worked!
A few tries later it stopped working. I tested the switch again and got 65 ohms.
Then clicked it a few more times, its back to 1 ohm and the light works again. Will 65 ohms keep a light from working or was it a coincidence.
In retrospect i should have tested the switch first so i would have two 65 ohm results as a confirmation that was the problem, as it won’t do it again but i’m sure it will when its needed it in the dark. (like taking your car to the mechanic, it works fine while your there until you leave)

What kind of switch is it? Is it on a pcb and held on with a threaded retaining ring? Try taking out the switch assembly, spraying some wd-40 into the switch and work it a bunch to clean up the contacts. Let it drain and dry. Then reassemble after cleaning all threads in the tail and contact ring on the pcb with a qtip and alcohol. Should be good to go for a good while.
