Switches

What are good/best switches?

I see some labeled 1.5A, are they really limited to 1.5 amps? I would like at least 3 amps from an 18650, enough for an 8*7135 driver. I’d like to keep a couple spares, I suppose I could rob another light, though

Im mostly interested in C8’s and 501/502b’s right now, but to make the thread more useful, I don’t want to limit it to those.

I need to attach a Christmas tree hook, scrap piece of wire, or something to a light for a backup switch. Then I can just pull the tailcap off and use the light. Maybe a thin piece of wire would go into the threads, and leave the light on, without holding the scrap?

And then there's the McClicky, but I never had one.

i run the 1.5a omten switches way past the recommended 1.5a, more like 4-6a no problem

This is in a c8, but it looks like one of the 1.5A ones? I would think it could handle more than 1.5A, but idk.

I will look at those links

Just saw your post Bob, that’s what I would’ve thought, good to hear that.

Wondering if I could notch the tail cap threads or something to hold a piece of wire?

Also, I just ordered these, I think I managed to order 2 that don’t work in a C8 lol? I have a 502 switch that went bad, though.

Which switch do I want?

Thanks for the great tests, djozz. Doesn’t look like I’m going to have any trouble at 3A or even more.

That second link (the switch with the contact plate on it) is definitely the better one. If it is a real omten, it can handle some decent current.

The last time I ordered a few of those some months ago, the switch was an Onten :-)

Is this a good switch or a less expensive one? How do I get it out? In a C8.

It unscrewed. Didn’t want to put a lot of pressure on it only to find it was pressed in. Seems higher quality housing, the switch is an omten or something looking type, need to look again

If the driver supports the higher voltage you can series another battery with a battery extender and halve the amps the switch sees.
