Ok, so there is a T6 3C bin now in XM-L2? Because a few months ago everyone was offering either an XM-L2 cool white or an optional XM-L(original) neutral. Sorry I’m a bit ignorant about the different bin options.
There are several tints available now from a few vendors. 1A, 1C, 3C, 5B2, 5C1, 5D1, etc. they keep getting warmer and higher CRI as you go. I figure the SWM have chosen a T6 3C to keep the lumens up a bit. Not that a T5 5C1 is a slouch or anything.
Racer86’s thread on emitters has a tint graph that shows the various ones available so far.
Because of the glorious warmth of my FF4 HID’s beam (totally unexpected, I even sold my M170 because it was an NW), I’m a new convert to a NW tint. Coming in from a cool bright white mentality, initially I thought, ‘What are these guys raving about an NW, it’s not bright’…but not anymore. You guys have been part of my learning process.
In my experience, comparing both tints indoors in a whitewall beamshot, the CW is the hands-down winner. Bring it outside and point it to natural landscapes, the NW
easily wins.
