Teach me how to check amperage to the LED

Hello, I want to get more into modding. I am wondering how you check the amperage going to an led. I want to change my xhp70 for xhp70.2 and dedome them for the same output but 30% more throw. I want to know if I can just switch out the LEDs or if they xhp70.2 will need more or less current to meet my the needs. Finding the max amperage drive and adding resistors is my goal.

A DMM will need to be placed in between (in series) one of your power wires going to the led to measure current at the led.
A XHP70.2 should be slightly brighter than a XHP70 at the same current. So if dedoomed you shouldn’t be to far away from what the 70 was depending on binning of both.
There is several graphs around on this forum that show how many lumens for current at the led. Up in the search box type in the particular led you wanna look at and test.

If you have a constant current driver you can just swap the XHP70 for the XHP70.2 and you will get the same current but more output.
