Batteryjunction is clearing out some of their terralux lights. I need a 1xaa multimode with a nice bright high and I can get the lightstar 100 for about $20 shipped. I know there are cheaper budget lights than can do this out there, but you always run a risk with the HK sellers and whether a light will work and for how long. (I've had to order a new switch for my F23 and I don't want o be doing too much further monkeying with this light). The lightstar 100 has a nice clip and comes with a holster and terralux has gone to a lifetime warranty. What are your thoughts on this light? Any strong alternatives to consider? I do have the concern that the high may not be bright enough for my liking as I see reports that the claimed lumens for the 220 are exaggerated. I definitely want something brighter than the F23 on a Nimh. (mine seems to run about 60 lumens on high by eyeball). I would think the clip, holster, and warranty are worth the $7 extra over a C3. No idea what the build quality is on the lightstar.
Are you talking about the Lightstar 100 or Lightstar 220EX? The 220EX is rated at 220 lumens, the 100 at 100/50 lumens.
The 100 isn't going to be much bright than 60 lumens OTF and has no low mode. It might be a good idea to spend an extra $5 and get an ITP A2 EOS from Shiningbeam.
..i tried to google it myself and couldn't find what I was refering to .. possibly another light ..maybe the same one //who knows .. buy it and tell us what you think .
Actually, I did thorough research on the light. Every review I have seen has been overwhelmingly positive. I looked at Amazon, CPF, and every retailer that sells it online in the US (googled extensively as well) and not a single negative. I see there is some misinformation as well. The Lighstar 100 has three modes: low, high, and strobe, so there is a low mode, its just not very low. I didn't know how true their lumen ratings were since the Lighstar 220 is so far off in its lumen ratings. In any case, I just decided to order the itp c7 instead since it was only a buck or two more than the ITP A2 with shipping.
I think you exaggerate on a single AA light being 3 times brighter than the F23. Most of the lights you quote only do about 100 to 120 lumens tops on a regular AA. I really want a rock for this particular light since I don't want to tinker with it and all the Hk dealer lights will require some tinkering from time to time, including those you reference. The terralux was intriguing because terralux is known for outstaniding customer service in the US and have been known to ship replacements with few questions asked for the life of the warranty.
