Reasonably priced 200+ mile battery packs are rolling out at the end of this year and early 2019. Just about all the big players will have a 200+ mile EV in 2019 or 2020.

I think the tipping point will be 2020. That is when cars like the next generation Nissan EV, BMW iX3, VW ID, Mercedes EQC, several ‘affordable’ BEVs from PSA ( Peugeot, Citroen and what used be GM Europe), a Volvo or two, a couple of all-new EVs from Jaguar-LandRover and lots more.

From there it is going to take off. Mercedes say they will have 10 battery electric cars by 2022. That is only four years from now.

Nissan and VW have been more than hinting, that their 2020-2022 cars will have in-wheel motors.
