I want to say thank you to everyone who has made me feel welcomed and included as a part of things. You see, I was born legally blind in both eyes and have just gotten use to what I can and can not do. I can see but my vision can not be fixed by man.
I came to this forum because I was not all that welcomed at another well known forum that rhyms with CPF. They gave me a hard time about my eyes and needing/wanting a flashlight....after all why would a "blind guy" need a flashlight? Also they did not help me find a light that I could afford as I live in a fixed income.
I learn by asking questions and talking with people, so I want to also thank you for not getting upset with me for making several threads and asking questions. People here answer my newbie questions and give me answers that help and not some stupid answer such as "just Google it". Heck when I mess up in doing something....like frying my DMM last night while learning how to do flashlight measurments....you still helped me and did not make me feel bad for blowing up my $12 POS autoparts store DMM. :)
This is a great place and I am glad to be a part of it and enjoy learning the basics and look forward to trying again doing flashlight measurements with another DMM. It is nice that a college educated computer geek who is now a house husband can be a part of a great forum despite my eyesite and limited income. :)
Welcome aboard S1! We're glad to have you. As for some of the rotting stale fecal matter hanging around on CPF, dont let them get you down. Its part of their left-wing culture to be extremely rude and belligerent to others so we accept it. Most of us here rarely visit that awful site any longer for reasons similar to yours.
By the way, if you decided to buy a million dollar F1 car to drive flat-out with both eyes closed, that is your own business how you spend your money... no one elses. Of course Id want to know all about it.
ummmm, thats not good. By the way, I went out tonight and went for a walk in the dark with a few lights. I went into the field of an elementry school to try out the lights and see how they do in total darkness for me. Well from my CPF days I bought a 4Sevens Quark 123X2 R2. I saved up for it because the folks there said that is what I should by, so I did and paid $69 for it. Well guess what, the $20 Ultrafire U20 that I just got in the mail today with a 14500 in it is just as bright to me as that Quark light is. I know now that you do not need to spend a lot of money to get a bright and quality light. Thank you all for helping me to find value for my money and still get a light that is a tool to me when needed.
We're glad to have you s1mp13m4n, thanks for being here. And thanks to all the other great guys that hang around here with their friendly responses and good attitudes. I am shocked that anybody ANYWHERE would be so insensitive as to make snide remarks such as those described by s1mp13m4n. Don't even think twice about what fools say. There's a lot of mean people in the world, but here everyone is proving that there's still a lot of good ones left.
I'd never have thought that anyone would call CPF a hang-out for members of the "left-wing culture". From where I'm standing on the political spectrum, they are a bunch of extreme-right conservative [insert appropriate part of the vertebrate anatomy here]. But then again, I'm from Europe ;)
I think they have good knowledge over there, but I could never get help when asking for a budget light solution to meet my needs. I would get answers such as " you get what you pay f", and "buy this or that $100 light because of XYZ". I did get a few people asking why a blind person needs a light. I am not totally blind so a light is a big help to me. This is a fun forum.or
hope you can receive the big help from these warm guys, i had been a member here for about five months, and i am also a newbee here that just to master the basic things, i am not a frequently member but just came here to release~
I am finding myself hanging out here daily now, but that is because I am trying to learn the more technical side of things as I go. I am still trying to understand what LED is what and why....even though I read Flashlight wiki.
I have to tell you this is the first forum I have ever posted on and I check in every day if I get the chance. I have half a dozen other forums I have lurked on for years but for various reasons I don't post. The people here are so friendly and helpful, the mod kicks ass and it's really just a great place to be. I feel the same way as you do very thankful to be part of this community.
