I might de-dome it all the way, just hesitating not having the protection over the die.
The thread on the dome-slicing seems to be perfect of both worlds, but some how didn’t work for me,
it does “look” brighter because the tighter looking spot, but the lux meter doesn’t lie like human eyes.
You should really look into getting a can of LED Seal.
I have had a can for about a year, just recently sealing over 25 bare LED outdoor fixtures, and the can is still around half-full.
They give you two spray tips with each can, and if you forget to clean the tip after use, one can be scavenged from a spray paint can (or similar)
It also helps to insulate solder points from reflector shorts. Good stuff all-around.
^ This. I was just going to suggest LEDseal. Good stuff, and a little goes a long way. I've had bare leds in custom flood fixtures illuminating certain parts of a steel mill (rough place for anything) for over a year and still going strong.
