The BLF GT70 "Giggle Monster" is here! 7,500lumens, 1,500m throw! Group buy Closed!

I hear ya’ Maverick… :+1: No worries about the Rude mark either… I honestly never figured it came from you.
The way you tell things like they are … I knew if you had a problem with me you would tell me straight out.

I honestly hope your “dream” will come true one day my friend!!

A BIG +1 to that!!

Looks like you hit the delivery lottery today Newlumen!! Congrats… :+1:

Thanks Teacher and TA for the nice words! Maybe someday we will hangout together once I finish engineering school…
Want to do a MBA there.

Thanks. Blf gt70 tint is not bad… it show just a little bit green…

Sure thing Maverick…… :+1:
Good luck in school & hope you get to do the MBA here.
If Texas doesn’t work out, take look in Alabama…. we have a lot to offer too.

Oh sweet home Alabama…will definitely keep it as an option. Only places I wouldn’t like to live in is California and NY. And away from the big major cities. I really wanted a ranch in Texas. DemolitionRanch style. With big trucks, big guns and big lights! Yes I have a small d*…. lol just kidding.

Or not…
Maybe.
It’s classified…

ANYWAY things got pretty strange and off topic pretty fast.
Back to topic if I could choose I would choose the 4000k and higher bin for our NW version of the GT70

   …. Yep, no doubt; you’ll fit right in & feel right at home….

I love his channel, been a few years since I have watched it though.

Incredible battery stickers, spent 20 minutes scrubbing sticky goo off battery butts after the charger didn’t even recognize them!

Lumintoponline say protected cells are recommended… blf gt70 carrier doesnt fit protected… many of you knows already…

Battery: Four or eight button-top 18650 cells (4S1P or 4S2P). Protected cells are recommended. Cells are not included.

I would love to rewrite the manual if they would be interested.

I just got a reply about this, seems it is a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing.

They made them a little shorter so that the new springs they are using would be compressed optimally to reduce resistance. The attempt was to improve the performance but the side effect was that it no longer accepts protected cells.

They never told me about this change nor anyone else that knew what was going on apparently.

So no, protected cells will not work with the GT70, I am going to tell them to remove this from the materials on the GT70.

I think they already have the manuals printed for this batch but if the changes are worth it they might consider reprinting.

Joechina has been the one working on the manuals up to now (Although the protected cells mistake and any other errors fall squarely on me, he can not correct what he doesn’t know, he has done a fantastic job with the information he is given and the time constraints).

You are welcome to contact him and work on an updated manual and I can pass it along to lumintop.

At the very least we can have it available for download in this thread.

Sounds about right…… :person_facepalming: … :smiley: :smiley: :smiley::wink:

Edit: Skip my question regarding the manual, just saw the post above regarding.

Just got done doing that very same thing as Turby3Pots, that was some kind of sticky stickers for sure.

I have a some questions for you all.

1st ques. where can I find an accurate user manual for this xhp70 driver? The one they sent is just a copy of the original manual near as I can tell but there are some differences between the two drivers, like the factory reset, the 1st press and hold to start the reset took so long I thought maybe it wasn’t there or was done away with or changed in someway
I had to hold the switch down in step one for what seemed like 2 minutes before I got the first flashing but after that all seemed normal.
I believe it flashed out that this is a version 1.3 driver, does that sound right ?

I am also wondering if I am the only one that got some dented negative end cells?
With the shorter carrier the springs were flattened completely and held in very tightly and I think that is what should have caused the dented cells.

And for my knowledge, just how badly would a cell have to be dented before something went wrong with the cell, if at all ?
My thoughts on that are that it would have to be so badly dented that it would have to have a tear or hole in it and that you would probably already be having major problems even before you noticed the dents, maybe problems like leakage perhaps?

And by the way, Mr. Chinese strong arm guy is still on the job tightening these lights like crazy, boy this one was difficult to take apart to clean, but it sure was nice admiring just how great all the machining is, Lumintop does some beautiful work.

Oh, one more question, has anyone used that greyfalcon charger? Or the SkyRC, and which would you suggest,
I’ve been using a couple 4 bay Opus chargers and I’m having some weird problems with them so it’s making me uncomfortable so need to buy a new charger and I was thinking on that Greyfalcon Richard has at his shop, each bay is independent and charges at 1 amp and can charge up to size 32650 I think it was, but it can charge 8 18650’s or 26650’s at once, that would sure save a lot of time.

Thank you TA for all your hard work on this project, I do believe it has paid off, this is one beautiful light with only one exception, the LED, I voted for 5K but would be happy with anything that isn’t like the LED that’s in there now. But it does have a nice green halo.
Thank you …

The latest manual we made was here: GT70 user manual V0.4

Come to think of it the manual for the GT70 was printed before our version even made it to lumintop. This does correct the settings being 16 seconds instead of 8 and some other things but the protected cells are still recommended.

Got a picture of the dented cells? A minor dent should not be an issue but best to have a look.

I use an Opus and LII-500 for most things myself. I have a custom hobby charger setup that can charge 14 cells at once when I really need to charge in bulk.

So just to be clear, the carriers for my GT would fit in the GT70 if I wanted to use protected cells?

And Texas_Ace I tried clicking on the link for the manual but it tells me “page not found”

FWIW, the license requires a couple things I don’t see in the manual:

  • A prominent notice that the product includes open-source code which is copyrighted by Tom E and distributed under the GPL.
  • The code, or a link to the code, should be included too.

The exact means of satisfying the license can vary, but the details are here:

https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.en.html

Usually the easiest method is to put the shipped version of the code into the main repository and include a link to it. This eliminates the extra steps required for modified versions (section 5). However, it also works to host a modified version elsewhere, and link to that instead.

Typically the most relevant place to put the text and link is in the manual or on the product’s retail sale page.

It may also be worth reading GPL V2 first, because it’s written in more plain language, before reading V3. It can make things easier to understand. V3 was written by lawyers, so it’s a bit technical.
