BTW, I also remebered the Odepro TM30 and the Nitefox UT20 that have the strobe outside the main cycle, in different ways.
The TM30 has a side switch that allows to access momentary strobe from OFF. When ON, that switch is pressed to change modes (T-H-M-L).
The UT20, in “outdoor” configuration, has 4 regular modes. Strobe can be accessed from ON by pressing & holding the side switch for a while. A single press will return to the regular modes.

Sunwayman G20C has 2 buttons. One dedicated to the strobe function. Can access strobe in any mode.
I understand the concept of a defensive flashlight but I just don’t care for it. Even if the mode was readily accessible, it’s still only a light and the defensive feature can be at odds with the normal use features. It would best be used in conjunction with another defensive tool but that too can present problems. Simplicity is valuable in defensive tools because defensive scenarios can develop quickly and chaotically.
I’m another one who would be happy to never see strobe on another EDC flashlight ever again.
