+1. Well said.
I should qualify my statement. 51 was not a friend (did not even know him) of my Aussie mate as he attacked him Mercilessly on the open forum but when my Aussie mate PM”d him he was a totally different person. He had a public persona & a different private one.

Here on BLF I dont have to ‘double think’ everything to ensure I’m not going to fall foul of a sponsor or supplier, or ingrained flashlight snobbery.
When it got to the point that I could not contribute for fear of the Moderators wrath well it was time to go elsewhere. I suspect that loads more people who went to C*F gave up too. Which is a shame as it started as a community board with loads of info.
While some (most?) of the mods can be ruthless, I had more grief with some of the high minded/rude members. Some of them said things (for no good reason) in print they would NEVER have said to my face! I say nothing in print that I would not say to ones face.

“Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely”
DM51 seems like that type of guy…given no power he is a decent person…give him some power and he is on a power trip…i’ve seen this countless times working in the security field with co-workers and dealing with police…it takes a strong willed person to not let power change them…DM51 is not that person…
He had a public persona & a different private one.
Duplicity isn’t exactly one of the qualities I look for when searching for people to associate with.

I had a similar experience, I’m not justifying many of the actions he took publically, lots of which were uncalled for in my opinion. But privately he was much more willing to discuss things openly and seemed a quite reasonable guy.

Screw him. He was a power tripping D-bag. The end.
The former forum tyrant DM51, should be joining BLF any day now. Be on the lookout. I never liked the power mad jerk.
cone - your comment (#25) is right on the money! DM51 is a nut job.

That is exactly what my Aussie mate stated. I butted head”s twice (for no good reason) with him. I was amazed I was not banned. i assumed he knew he was wrong was why he did not ban me. resistance is not futile.

Strongly agree!
DM51 may be a nice guy in private talks with his aussie friends, but as a moderator: aagh!

Wasn´t it just what I wrote: Two different persons

Amen! Scumbag. Hope he sees this post.

I can see him opening a restaurant instead of moderating a flashlight forum. He would make a great “Soup Nazi”. Seinfeld reference.
OK. I finally see why people have complained about the moderation of the “other forum”.

I know Rufusduck. People that are rude behind a screen are spineless wall flowers in person. Long live BLF!!!
