Looks great even more so for the first try. Could you elaborate a bit about the process? I’m really liking the looks.
I was using a 3-part electroless nickel plating solution, purchased on taobao.
Before everything, I used 5% Caustic soda(NaOH) to remove the original anodizing. Then I polished the bare aluminium with steel wool and scotch brite. After that, the host was dipped into the first part, an acidic wash/activator, then the second part, the nickel plating solution and then the last part, the finish coating.
I think I can do better in polishing it.

It was heated to ~90°C working temperature.

Got it. So no electroplating is involved. Straight chemical plating.
Technically you could crome plate it from here

Could you share some details about your order? Got 2 Dongs coming in from Superbuy. They are labeled as “finished” in the the product selector. Did you put your build together from different sources? If so, which?

I wouldn’t want to do this myself, but I would definitely buy fancy chemically treated or electroplated copper flashlights.
Even silver- or gold-plated ones could look awesome. I think they’d look even better over time, as they develop a patina or the plating wears down and the base metal starts to show through.
