Might be easier to get a driver with integrated fan controller?

4 Thanks

NDD (New Dong Day).
This is from Kai Domain. The K2G. Mechanical switch. 22mm 3v 20 amp Convoy buck driver and a LHP73b in 5k. Beautiful beam and over 7000 lumens measured in my lumen tube! I really like these hosts. They are very well built and zero branding. This one came with an extra switch. The only issue I had with this build was soldering a spring to the host side to make contact with the small diameter post on the driver.

Anyone have hands on experience with XBY 32mm drivers?

How are they?
I’ll probably eventually build a 32mm driver, but want the easy button to get it built for now.

I’m thinking about getting a D2iC or D5f and I’m not sure which of the 2 driver options to get.

I’m still trying to figure out all of the terminology on superbuy.

16 pole or 14 knockdown?
It looks like the 14 is the newer version?

afaik there’s only one version currently available, the v3.5d11

It’s a simple 16A buck + FET driver, with integrated USB-C charging(22.5w) and a custom UI.

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and ordered one with a D2ic host.

Has anyone tried the Convoy 32mm 25A FET driver for L8 SBT90.2 ,input 3-4.2V driver in one of the DDH hosts?

I actually ordered one on my last convoy order to use in a bicycle light project that I back burnered about 13 years ago.

Thanks to you guys I have 3 DDH hosts on the way.

D2iC Black - 26800 Extension - 10mm OP
D2G Black - 10mm OP
D4i Black - 26800 Extension - 10mm OP

and plan on getting a D5F next.

Can’t find this driver on Taobao. :frowning:

I did remember recently reading about someone putting this driver into a non-Convoy light, but couldn’t remember in which light, so I did some searching, but it turned out it was put in a FT03S (with some minor adjustments).

Might not be really usefull for your question regarding putting it into a DDH hosts, but I will link to it anyway; it was @smurcod who had put one into his Astrolux FT03S:

Thank you. that IS helpful.

1 Thank

Because it’s not on Taobao

So I am awaiting a few DDH hosts to arrive, and just realized I do not have, nor did I order any 2mm thick 20mm MCPCBs for the D2G. Can I use a standard 1.5-1.6mm thick MCPCB in it?

You can use a standard MCPCB

Ok, cool. Thanks.

In case you haven’t seen this yet:

I’m sorry if this was already answered before but I didn’t see it while reading the previous posts but how is the ordering experience and shipping costs to the US from Super Buy?

I see they have 46950 batteries that I’d like to get for my 3X21D and also a bunch of the Dong hosts look fun for future projects.

I’m also interested in the payment method as that’s where I bailed out.

I live in Tennessee and I’ve ordered from SuperBuy 6 times.
The price greatly depends on the size and weight of the final package that is shipped to you.
Since the cost of fuel has gone up, I’ve noticed the shipping prices increased slightly recently.
I always choose the cheapest “Duty-Free” option and have never been hit with any kind of additional tarrifs/taxes.
For me the shipping costs have ranged from $5.28(a couple ChangDa LEDs) to $25.01(a couple smaller hosts and a bunch of small misc items).

I’ve never ordered a battery with SuperBuy so I can’t speak on that.
However, I ordered a small fan once, and it was flagged as an “Appliance”. The cheaper shipping options weren’t available and the cost of shipping went up $8.

SuperBuy used to accept PayPal, but no longer do.
I now use ApplePay because I feel it gives me an extra layer of security.

I’ve only ordered once from SB, but I will share my experience thus far in great detail.
Keep in mind, this is my first foray in shopping direct from China, aside from using AliExpress and the like.

I’ve shopped there with my android phone using my browser. I have not installed the app.
It’s slightly clunky to use at first.

There is quite a bit lost in translation in item descriptions, but you’ll start to figure it out.
For instance, lets say you’re shopping for a host.
The item options may use the terms " 10 holes Orange noodle" …That would be 10mm reflector opening diameter, Orange Peel.

For payment, if you have Apple Pay, I would use that.
If you’re like me, and you don’t, I figured using Crypto would be the safest bet.
I would highly recommend transferring the crypto to your account on SB BEFORE checking out.
This is where I messed up the first time.
I was in the checkout process and tried to transfer the EXACT amount to complete the checkout.
I transferred it from CashApp and by the time the money got there (20 minutes) , it was not enough to complete the checkout. I almost lost all of my money into the ethers, as I had transferred it to their wallet, and once you do that, it is gone.
After pulling out a little hair, I was able to cancel the transaction (which was several steps) and the Bitcoin made it’s way into my account on SB. Whew.

So if one were to use crypto, this is how it should be done.

Figure out how much you will need for checkout.
On your SB home page, click the “recharge” button, or “top up now”. (my phone says recharge, pc browser says top up now)
Transfer at least a few dollars more than you think you may need to checkout.
But don’t worry, you’ll end up using the rest of that money later when you end up needing to pay for shipping to your country, in a separate transaction (several days later)
Any excess funds will remain in your SB balance.
You can also “withdraw” funds from your account later if you have excess left over.
During checkout, be sure to choose the option to “remove express packaging” as it will save a ton of space for your final parcel. This is the outer packaging that is initially used. Not the item packaging.

When completing checkout and paying, give it time for the process to complete once it has started.
It should go quickly, as long as you have proper funds available.

Your items will be shipped to a storage warehouse in China. As each item arrives, it’s status will change to “in storage”
When the items arrive to storage, they will unpack them and take several pictures of them, which can be viewed. If something looks off, now is the time to tell them.
For me, I ordered several different items, with multiples of some, totaling 61 items. Everything looked fine in the pics.

Once all of your items have arrived, you can have them all shipped together.

Be sure to have a decent pile of money in your account, ready to be used for shipping, as once you start and complete the shipping process, the funds will automatically be deducted from your SB account.
I don’t believe it tells your how much it is going to be before deducting funds.
I figured my shipping would be around $50ish bux. I had $85 on my account, just in case.
It ended up being $54
That was for 7 hosts, 2 drivers, 17 LEDs on mcpcbs, 22 gaskets and 13 mcpcbs.

Choose the basic shipping options.
I chose the 14-30 days shipping, which I believe is the EU&US Duty Free Air Express option.
There is a checkbox that is default set to “accept separate parcels” or something to that effect. I unchecked that, as I wanted everything shipped together.
I DID choose the “shipping expert” option.
It was a few extra dollars.
They will be sure all the declarations are done properly, which I think is important so there are no hangups at customs, as this could cost your time and money.
You have to declare a dollar amount. I claimed the exact amount I paid for everything.

Once you complete all of that, it will be picked up by the courier and sent to it’s destination hub.
It will take a few days to get there.

This is where I am at in the process. I believe the next step is it will get onto a plane and be en-route to the US.

I’m about 9 days in from when I ordered my last item.

I’m 6 days in from closing out my storage, and my stuff is about to be put on the plane. Not bad.

I apologize for this being long winded, but wanted to go into detail as I was feeling unsure throughout the process. After having gone through it once, I no longer feel hesitant to order from SB.
Hopefully this is helpful. I recommend giving them a shot.

Very helpful, it’ll take a bit more planning than I anticipated. Especially making sure I have the correct amount of funds
