My terriers are called Ruari (Rory for the language challenged), or “Oy, Roar!” when he’s out, and Scampy (or “Oy, muppet!).
I like Ruairi, or Ruaidhrigh if you want to confuse the vet, but it’s apt for my dog, who has a little but of reddy brown (means red haired king in Gaelic).

I think if he’s a noisy dog he’s getting the name Chinook - have you ever heard one of those things overhead? They are LOUD.
They used to be used extensively to ferry people and stuff to the North Sea oilfields. However, their safety record wasn’t good so they’re no longer used here.
He looks like a Raleigh to me.

For flashlight related, you could name him Lumen, Twisty, or Clicky. Otherwise Kevin. My sister has two (little) schnauzers named Jake and Pepper.

Also, as brted suggested, I'm partial to "Lumen" Just try shouting it a few times...it's a name you can really get your diaphragm behind.
No dog I have ever had ever listened to its name (well, unless it was my mother calling the dog).
“No, bad dog, bad!” has worked for me, often. Usually resulted in running towards me and remaining in the ubiquitous submissive gesture; but probably just so because they could be very sure of the petting, cuddling and stroking, then. Guess I’m just not tough enough for dogs.
Having them running around in circles around you, grunting and snorting with delight and joy when you return home IS priceless, though.
… even though all they probably want is to be fed, to be cuddled, and to be fed again (do they come in any other form than “being constantly starved”?)
“Come here, food!” has always worked the best. At least they tend to listen, then. To that, or to the rustling of a package of biscuits being opened. They can hear it from miles away.
lol @ Six. My dog always came when I tapped a spoon on a tin for some reason. Works on cats too.

He’s home now. He’s wonderful. Excuse the scary expression, I’ve been up since 4am and this was taken around 7pm. And I’d driven hundreds of miles in a very small car not ideally suited to having two giant schnauzers in it. Not to mention a very large crate (folded) for the lad. He’s 6 months old and has (I’m told) an excellent pedigree. The paperwork will arrive in due course in the mail. Eventually I decided on Chester - for some reason i thought he looked like a Chester. No idea why. He desperately needs a bath and a haircut, but he’s had enough trauma for one day. Chester’s on the left, Dieta on the right and Sonny the cocker spaniel makes an appearance too.
They're all beauties, Don. Congratulations to Chester, looks like he's found a right nice home.
