I want to update my 2d maglite. It is an xml u2 with this driver. It says 5.5v-12v. 3A driver. I have the 3 mode version and ha22 heatsink. I was running 2 18650’s. Will the driver work for an Mtg2 led?
It will work and can be easily resistor modded for even more current.
Yep, it will work. I played around with it a little in this thread.
Lightmalls driver and KD, I’m pretty sure are the same driver.
Sweet, thanks guys. Would you guys know if the mtg2 likes the standard mag 2d reflector or the deep reflector better?
I use the Rebel reflector. Pretty much same beam pattern as a xml mag, the hotspot is just about twice as big and very bright any where the light hits. I cant comment on the incandescent reflector, I like the tighter beam of the rebel, so its all I use.
From what I have seen when building xml mags and using the stock reflector I would take a wild guess to say that the hotspot will be even larger with more flood than using the rebel. The MT-G2 in a mag is such a monster led, it produces so bright of spill it just lights up everything in its path if driven hard. From what I remember while playing with mine with the rebel reflector, the hotspot is about the size of a small house at 100 yds. Pretty much anything outside the hotspot is still bright enough to see well at a 100yds. I would go shine it around right now (neighbors house) to make sure I remember correctly (its dark here), but its in pieces right now. :_(
Hello guys,
I own an ultrafire f10, and i just order a mtg-2 led emmiter , and a
21.6mm CC 5000mA 1-3 LED Driver 3 Modes 5.2-12V, SST 50 SST 90
Driver
Can i use mtg2 with stock driver (i dont know details -it use up to 3 x18650 to power the xml-u2 stock led emitter.)?
Or i have to use the new driver?
Is my driver choice a good choice for mtg2 ?
Thank you and sorry for my bad english
