While I am waiting for my BLF X5/X6 set to arrive, this one came in the mail today along with a solicitation for a donation. Here are the specs:
Brand: Smashlight
Battery: No Idea
LED: Not a clue/Not a clue (there are two of them)
Lumens: Few
Runtime: Dunno
Body: Plastic
Modes: Two (momentary on and off)
Tint: Cool white
Origin: China
Other: Magnet for attaching to fridge; lanyard for retention in tactical situations
The battery is apparently some kind of button cell under the momentary (TACTICAL!) switch. There is too much stuff covering the emitters to take a decent picture but they emit a cool white beam with enough throw to reach from your hand to the floor. It’s brighter than my Astrolux S1 or my I3S EOS on their lowest settings, so it is certainly bright enough to light your way in a darkened house from the bed to the bathroom or whatever. Where you hang the lanyard while you are in the bathroom is up to you.
The magnet on the back and the lanyard are nice touches for folks who want to keep this handy on a fridge or file cabinet, or hanging from virtually anything. Changing the battery would require a knife and some duct tape. They are sold a promotional item, and it looks like they cost about $3 each including 1-color printing, but I bet we can get that price down some for the BLF Special Edition lol!
With the tactical momentary-on switch and the tactical retention lanyard, I fully expect to see these advertised as the 300-lumen Shadowhawk X300 for only $19.99. Anyway, I thought it was a hoot that this would come to the home of a flashaholic.
