ThorFire C8s Flashlight 900 Lumens XM-L2

I picked up a ThorFire C8s Flashlight XM-L2. It has a different Driver board then I am used to, and not sure if I should keep it or replace it. I want to order the 105E 20mm with the GuppyFW, but not sure if that is a good idea.

So the driver has a diameter of 20 mm now? If you are not going for more current (with a FET) I would keep the stock driver. They are known to be pretty good.

Yes the stock driver is 20mm measured it last night. I want to upgrade for the GuppyFW really, is there a way to get a new attiny for the stock board to upgrade firmware? Also is there anyway to mount a 17mm board in place of the 20mm board? I have a 17mm board coming that I would like to use, not sure this is possible.

There are 17mm to 20mm adapter rings available, but I don’t have a link at hand in this moment.

What FET driver should I go with? I see 2 different ones, what one preforms best?

FET + 7135 Driver
FET Driver - 20mm

The Fet + 7135 is the “equivalent” of the BLF driver (the BLF driver was a community effort to design/build/program a FET + 7135 driver to fit in a group buy for the X6 flashlight)…the 7135 is for the lower modes to aid in preventing the flickering some people see if a FET is used in very low on duty cycle of a FET (it causes flickering)

The FET is a direct drive type driver…no 7135’s for low modes but still a very good design, it just relies on PWM more down to the low modes and as I said above…some people can actually see the flickering

I believe the direct drive drivers (DD’s) were a high current development stage before the invent of the mosfet + 7135 type drivers. Evolution of the flashlight driver, thanks to the awesome folks of the research and development team here at BLF.
