Besides there potentially being an intermittent connection problem at the tail cap, I would also check the side switch for any issues.
On certain occasions the side switch bezel can be screw down on a silicone switch cover that’s slightly offset and causes additional pressure on the switch. This can in turn create a false trigger on the switch. This could potentially explain why you’re getting a false Moonlight or strobe.
I would try removing the little bezel and silicon switch cover and try operating the light by pushing directly on the metal button. Then see if your issues disappear or if they still happen. Also make sure that the side switch button has a very crisp press and release. The button should pop fully back up every time you press it. If it feels weak or very easy to press down or it doesn’t want to cleanly pop back up, then you may have a defective side switch.
