Hello BLF members, I was one of the lucky guys choose to review the new diving flashlight from Thorfire, the TD26 model.
So, due to my bad english, if admin allows, I will put a video review with the first part in italian language and the second part in cheese english (probably the most important part because was shot on the Adriatic sea here in Italy. Unfortunately, the wind was very strong, and the noise disturbed shooting. I’m sorry) than some photos to understand how accurated is the work done by Thorfire.
So if you want to see the beamshots on the sea, I would ask you to see the video from 3.40 min, you can see the right use of this diving flashlight. Well I’m not a diver, but the images speak for themselves! The Thorfire TD26 is a quality diving flashlight, for sure. Used in dark water, it’s the best place to disclose all its power! Infact the Led Cree XP-L at “Turbo” mode claims to be 1000 lumens. And you can use it for 45 minutes with a quality 26650 battery (included in the pack you find a 5000 mHa battery + standard charger rated for 1A max output).
About the battery, another very good option is the extra 18650 adapter (included) so you can change to another format. There are several modes to select including an hidden strobe (quickly double click on the metallic switch):
Now let’s play some photos!!!
Low-30 lumens/48h runtime
Med-200 lumens/2,45h runtimes
High-500 lumens/1,25h runtimes
Turbo-1000 lumens/45min runtime
The flashlight throw at max 350m distance
The beam intensity is 9800cd
It’s waterproof IPX standard-8, underwater 100m max.
Listed size specs:
Length: 148mm
Head diameter: 50mm
Body diameter: 35mm
This flashlight is not “bulky”, it feels very good in the hand. It is smaller than expected and the aggressive working on the handle gives you a very strong grip. I like so much the shape of the TD26!! For me is not only a quality flashlight but it’s also a beauty;)
There is only a magnetic side switch to operate with the light, so no tail switch but is ok. You can do all the works with this sturdy metallic switch. Initially the only unusual thing about the side switch was that it’s not super fast as I was used to with other torches. It has a long run, and you have only to understand how it work/how to click it. It’s just a small delay between releasing the switch and the light coming on. After that, it work quite smooth. No problems at all.
There are two O-rings to facilitate the light’s 100m waterproof rating; no rats in this kitchen;-)
With a 26650
With a 18650 (+ adapter)
Just for fun…I’ve try with a 3xAAA adapter, it run!!! (but goes only at low/med/high NO Turbo mode)
As you can see it’s a very compact torch. Here is between a Thorfire C8 and a Yezl Y3
So, if you are a diver and you need a flashlight to explore the dark water, well with this Thorfire TD26 you can’t go wrong!
This sample was provided for an honest review. Hope you like it and it’s useful.
